Music video practice reflection

Evaluation of teaser video

What have you enjoyed?

Creating the music video it self was what i enjoyed the most, using the camera to take different shots and get different angles in was really enjoyable, i would say its the part of media i mostly enjoy as camera work is where i seek a career in. the editing process was also quite fun and i was able to adapt all the editing styles i've seen from all the music videos i've watched and see first hand, how to imbed them into the footage. because the genre of the song i chose ( Harlem spartans - Call me a Spartan) was grime i was able to create the video with the basis of how its meant to look like because grime is a genre i particularly enjoy so i could be creative with the shots and edits and still know how it should look.

What have you learnt?

From this experience i learnt quite a few things, but what was really useful was how to change the white balance settings on the camera. this showed to be very important as natural light can be a real interference with the shot. one other thing i have learnt and believe was truly important is the basic editing skills and learning to use the editing software as it was quite baffling to use at first but after this task its straight forward.

What were the major challenges?

The major challenges i face during this task was getting the right location that natural light did not interfere with our shot. we wanted to use a variety of shots both inside and out and the day we chose to film out side was very bright which made some people look lighter that they are. this was a set back as i had to find my teacher to help me with the settings but it was still to bright outside so i found it tricky. another challenge i found was getting parts of the footage to sync with the song to the beat. I didn't want it to look bad do i had to pay close attention to detail. there was on part where i could match the footage to the song completely but as this was a trial and error stage i chose to leave it like this. but to improve my skills on synchronising the footage and song i will ask for help from my teachers and technicians.

what do you think the major challenges will be for your main project?

The one major challenge i have in mind fro the main project is getting the footage and song in sync, as i did find it hard to do so with a 30-40 second clip and a 3-4 minute clip will show to be a real challenge. one other major challenge will be choosing what genre and song to do for the music video i feel like i'm quite indecisive with the  choice as there are so many great options and i don't know where to star from. as im not only looking to remake the music video but i do what to capture the meaning  behind lyrics and show creativity. like in the grime genre more or less everyone has the same style of video, but that's down to the conventions however i feel like those conventions are to boring and are generic i want to create something different that stands out which is why i feel like it will be a challenge to choose a genre and a song.
